An Evison/Poulsen® cultivar raised in Guernsey by Raymond Evison and launched in 2011. A delightful pink flower with contrasting yellow anthers. As clematis Abilene's flowers mature and fade, a central deep pink stripe becomes more prominent. cl. alpina 'Blue Dancer'
Very pale blue, long narrow twisted tepals 5 - 7.5cm (2-3 in) long. Most attractive. The alpina species has given rise to a range of different coloured cultivars from white, pink, mauve, blue and purple in colour, some becoming semi-double as those of macropetala. This group are most winter hardy and extremely valuable as garden plants. They can be used to grow along with other wall trained shrubs, such as chaenomeles, on north facing walls to give added colour and interest in mid to late spring. Rich purple-pink semi-double flowers, 5cm deep (2 in). A seedling from cl. alpina 'Ruby' raised by Kathleen Goodman and introduced by Raymond Evison. Mid blue flowers, with broad tepals 5cm (2in) long, free flowering with very pretty inner skirt, the outer petaloid stamens having a pale blue tip. Raised by Frank Meecham in Lincolnshire, England and introduced by Raymond Evison, one of the most free flowering alpina cultivars. cl. 'Arabella'
A very free-flowering deciduous cultivar raised in England by Barry Fretwell in about 1990, c integrifolia being one of its parents. The 7-8cm (2 ¾ - 3 ¼ in) wide flowers are round in shape and semi-nodding, having 4-6 tepals which are rosy purple, flushed with red. It is a pretty non-clinging plant which can be tied to its host or allowed to scramble through shrubs.

cl. 'Arctic Queen' Evitwo(N)
An Evison/Poulsen cultivar raised by Raymond Evison in Guernsey and introduced in 1994. This outstanding double clematis far outperforms any other double clematis currently available, for its amount of flowers. It produces double flowers on both old and new growth. The 10-18cm (4-7in) flowers have clear creamy white tepals and yellow anthers. It produces many flowers per stem and has good foliage. Ideal for a small garden or container culture. cl. Armandii
An evergreen species from China found over a large geographical area, introduced in England in 1990 by Ernest Wilson. A very rampant climber with large pointed dark green leaves, generally trifoliate. They have a leathery texture when mature and an attractive bronze colour when young. The foliage is prone to damage by wind and late spring frost may kill the new grown, so except in the warmest areas it is best planted on a south or south-west facing aspect against a large wall. The creamy white to pure white flat open flowers are 4-5cm (1 ½ - 2 in) in diameter , have off-white anthers and are produced on short flower stems in clusters from the leaf axil buds. They have a scent like that of hawthorn.

cl. 'Asao'
A Japanese cultivar introduced by Raymond Evison from Japan in the early 1980's. Deep pink 15cm (6in) wide flowers which have the deepest colour at the edges of the tepals and yellow anthers. Attractive bronze coloured foliage in the late spring. Very compact habit, ideal for growing in a container.

cl. 'Ascotiensis'
Raised by John Standish in 1874. This old cultivar is most free flowering and vigorous once established. The bright mid blue flowers have darker veins to the broad tepals which number between four and six. Light chocolate/green anthers. Flowers well along the stem and can be used as a container plant to give late summer colour. Ideal with red roses. RHS Award of Garden Merit.

cl. 'Avalanche'
A marvellous evergreen raised by Robin White at Blackthorn Nurseries , England, introduced in 1998. A strong vigorous plant, similar in growth to c. paniculata and in flower habit to c. X cartmanii ‘Joe’. The fleshy, leathery, dark green leaves are well dissected, their glossy surface making them most attractive. The open flat flowers, 7-8 cm in diameter, are borne in panicles in great profusion. They have 4-7 but mainly 6 pure white tepals, short dark yellow stamens and no styles.
